Yesterday, State Representative Jed Davis passed Senate Bill 1460. Following the passage, he released the following statement:
“First, I want to thank Senator Sue Rezin for filing this bill in the Senate,” said Rep. Davis. “This is a local initiative that was brought to us by the Lake Holiday Association. Working together on these local issues is crucial, and I am happy to have partnered with Senator Rezin on this.”
SB 1460 allows homeowner associations that comprise more than 50% of a township’s population to purchase the materials needed to repair and maintain roads from the township directly. Townships receive lower rates on items purchased from the state, such as road salt.
The bill passed unanimously with a vote of 104-0.
“By allowing our associations to purchase these items at a discounted price, we are saving the taxpayers money. This bill will help people in District 75, and I am proud to bring direct change to the people of my community and to communities across the state of Illinois
