YORKVILLE- Following the filing of House Bill 4178, State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) released the following statement:
“We are currently facing an alarming shortage of healthcare staff in Illinois,” said Rep. Davis. “One of the main shortage areas is with at-home caregivers. Because of this, many individuals who rely on this level of care are unable to access it.
“House Bill 4178 will help ease the burden on our healthcare workers by allowing eligible, licensed family members who already work in healthcare to become at-home caregivers and be reimbursed for their work. Instead of having these healthcare workers find employment elsewhere, these nurses and nurse aids can stay at home, take care of their own family, and not lose out financially for it.
“I also want to thank Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and UChicago Medicine Comer Children’s for their valuable input on this bill. I look forward to continued collaboration with both organizations, as well as other experts in this field, to create sound legislation on this issue.”
This bill is from a package of bills filed by Representative Davis called Helping Households.
