Davis Backed Bills Improving Accountability and Cutting Red Tape Pass Illinois House

SPRINGFIELD – Today, two bills sponsored by State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) unanimously passed the Illinois House of Representatives.

House Bill 3011 requires elected community college board members to take an oath upholding the Constitutions of the United States and Illinois upon being sworn into office.

“House Bill 3011 aligns our community college board members with all other elected officials in Illinois by requiring an oath upholding the Constitution upon being sworn into office,” said Davis. “This is a simple bill that ensures our American values are upheld in every elected position in Illinois.”

Rep. Davis is a chief co-sponsor of House Bill 3356, which removes unnecessary licensing barriers for individuals who want to make a living doing traditional African hair braiding.

Davis continued, “This bill removes unnecessary regulatory red tape currently preventing Illinoisans from pursuing a career braiding hair. It’s a win-win that reduces needless government bureaucracy and promotes careers.”

Both bills now await further action in the Illinois Senate.
