Davis Joins Calls for Urgent Energy Framework Reform

YORKVILLE –This week, State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) joined Republican colleagues on the House and Senate Energy Committees calling for a full review of Illinois’ broken energy policies. The legislators sent a letter demanding an urgent subject matter hearing.

“Illinois families are already getting crushed by the highest cost of living in the Midwest,” said Davis. “Now, thanks to reckless green energy mandates, we’re staring down a massive spike in electric bills—up to 22% statewide. This isn’t just numbers on paper. It’s real money out of people’s pockets—money they need for gas, groceries, and housing.

“One of the hardest-hit areas will be Marseilles, right here in District 75, where local government is bracing for a 1,000% annual increase on their capacity charges—and nearly 2,100% in the summer. Talk about a death blow to local budgets.

“We can’t keep ignoring reality. Energy policy in Illinois is a disaster, and working families are paying the price. I’m urging the energy committee chairs to stop dragging their feet and take immediate action—before these skyrocketing costs crush even more Illinoisans.”
