Rep. Davis Responds to State of the State Address

SPRINGFIELD – Following yesterday’s annual State of the State and Budget Address, State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) released the following statement:

“Yesterday, Governor J.B. Pritzker gave his annual State of the State and Budget Address. While there were a number of issues with his FY27 budget proposal, including $1 billion in increased spending and $728 million in new taxes and fees, there were a few issues where the Governor and I agree.

“Illinoisans don’t just want complaining – they want real solutions to the largest problems facing our communities. I hear the same issues brought to my office time and time again. Residents want lower property taxes, more career opportunities, and more affordable housing. These are bipartisan issues, and I’m glad the Governor highlighted them. But we can’t just talk, we need to take action.

“It’s why I filed bills to tackle these important issues:

  • Property Tax Relief: House Bills 4290, 4299, 4317, and 4320.
  • Career Opportunities and Educational Affordability: House Bills 1112, 4295, 4296, and 4386.
  • Affordable Housing: House Bills 4387, 4389, 4852, and 5457.

“All of these bills provide real solutions to the issues facing our state. After today’s address, I’m hopeful the majority party will come to the table this session and help move these bills, as well as others filed by the House Republicans, forward in the legislative process.

“Let’s get to work for the people of Illinois.”
