Just in the last week, two House Democrats have faced major ethics scandals. Former Rep. Harry Benton resigned after the Inspector General found “clear patterns of conduct” that were “outrageous, unethical, and unbecoming of a member of the Illinois House” for allegations of sexual harassment.
Then, yesterday, the story broke that State Rep. Carol Ammons has been indicted on federal charges including pandemic/unemployment fraud, wire fraud, making a false statement, and obstruction charges. Enough is enough. It’s time for real ethics reform down in Springfield! The people of Illinois deserve better.
