Rep. Jed Davis’ Monthly E-News: June 2026

Hello everyone, and welcome to my June E-Newsletter!

At 4:15 AM on June 1st, the Illinois House of Representatives passed your FY27 budget. Unsurprisingly, we have another record-setting budget at $55.9 billion. Continually growing spending year over year is completely unsustainable for Illinois families, which is why I voted NO on this budget.

Despite the passage of a bill in the Senate, legislation to keep the Bears in Illinois was never called for a vote in the House, and we adjourned without addressing this issue. We have since seen the official statement from the Bears stating they’re continuing with the proposed stadium site in Hammond, Indiana.

This outcome is a true fumble from the majority party. Despite months of time for planning and working together, they were unable to rally the support needed to get this bill across the finish line.

4th Annual Fishing Derby – This Saturday!

Don’t forget to join us for our fourth annual Fishing Derby this Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Silver Springs State Park – Loon Lake.

Father’s Day weekend is a great opportunity for families to make memories and enjoy time together outdoors. We’re excited to bring this event back with the help of incredible community partners.

The first 50 children in attendance will receive free rods and reels, with half donated by Plano Walmart. Additional prizes and perks will be provided courtesy of Plano Molding and Plano Culver’s. Illinois Conservation Police and Oswegoland Fishin’ Fools will also be on-site providing safety information and assisting participants with baiting hooks. No fishing license is required to participate.

Response to Passage of FY27 Budget

I voted no on this year’s budget because it is packed with tax and fee increases, which will have a direct effect on the wallets of working families. Illinois Democrats claim to fight for affordability, but they just passed the largest budget in our state’s history.

Budget Toplines:

  • Largest budget in Illinois state history at $55.9 billion.
  • $800 million in new taxes.
  • Sweeping $150 million from our road fund to balance the state budget.
  • At least $220 million in pork projects ONLY for Democrat districts.

Actions speak louder than words. We’ve all heard rhetoric about affordability from the majority party, but their actions tell a very different story.

I will continue fighting for the people of the 75th District and the people of Illinois.

Rep. Davis Speaks About Family First Housing Act

In May, I spoke with FOX 32 Chicago about the Family First Housing Act, a bill I filed to support Illinois families to care for aging parents on their own property without unnecessary government or homeowners’ association restrictions. As lawmakers, we spend a lot of time talking about strengthening families. This bill is a chance to actually do it.

2026 Summer Reading Program

As a parent, I know the importance of encouraging students to remain active readers during the summer months. I have many fond memories of summer reading as a kid, and I hope this program helps create those same memories for local students.

Students from Kindergarten through 5th grade may participate by reading eight or more books before August 14, 2026. Books containing more than 150 words count as two books. Students completing the program will receive a certificate recognizing their achievement, along with a voucher for free ice cream.

After completing their reading, students should submit their forms with a parent or guardian verifying the information. Online forms can be completed by clicking here or by visiting RepJedDavis.com. Paper forms are available at Rep. Davis’ district office, located at 1925 S. Bridge Street in Yorkville.

Sign the Petition: Tell Governor Pritzker to Invest in Illinois Children

Illinois families deserve the best opportunities for their children, and a new federal program makes that easier than ever.

The Educational Choice for Children Act offers up to $1,700 in federal tax credits to fund scholarships, tutoring, and educational support for K-12 students. All Governor Pritzker has to do is opt in.

Colorado’s Democratic Governor called it a “no-brainer”. Colorado, New York, and 27 other states have already said yes. It’s time for Illinois to join them.

Tell Governor Pritzker to say YES for Illinois children! Click here to sign the petition.
